Playspace Presents Sound Bites Vol.1: Day 2 Featuring Froya & Jumero
Sound Bites is a music performance series produced by Playspace that aims to put together different local talents through a collaborative effort in hopes to spark off creative projects in the future. This will be a quarterly installment and Playspace hopes to bring to the audience their musical favourites in an intimate setting.
Froya - the brainchild of Michelle Lee, entered the local Indie music scene in late December 2011. Her unique style of music encompasses and blends a variety of genres ranging from folk to electronica. It also can best be described as eclectic with a tinge of bittersweet quirky folk and a hint of indie pop.
On 11th April 2015, a long awaited debut album - “Panic Bird”, written and produced exclusively by Froya for over the past 5-6 years was released. It was also launched under the spotlight offered by Guinness Amplify:Curates.
Jumero, consisting of three members, was officially formed in September 2012 when they had their debut performance at Urbanscapes after winning the Star R.age competition. Since then, they have played at multiple venues, events, and music festivals such as the Island Music Festival 2013, Indie PG 2013, Guinness Amplify 2014, Urbanscapes 2014, My Music Festival 2015, and TEDxYouth@SKIS 2015
Their members consist of lead vocalist and guitarist Jared Lim, bassist and back-up vocalist Michael Lim, and lastly their drummer/percussionist and back-up vocalist Ryan Gomes.
The trio harmonizes their way through their original songs and arrangement of covers. Apart from their passion of writing and releasing original music, the trio also enjoy covering current as well as older classic songs whilst adding their personal touch to it.
On the 21st of August, 2015 Jumero released their debut album “stepping stones”.
